Dr. Doug Thomson

Director of Music and Worship Studies

Dr. Douglas Thomson serves as Director of Music and Worship Studies at Heritage College & Seminary. His teaching focuses on music, worship theology, and leadership in corporate worship, equipping students to serve the Church through thoughtful and theologically grounded musical leadership.

Drawing on extensive experience in performance, conducting, and pastoral ministry, Dr. Thomson seeks to cultivate both musical excellence and a deep understanding of worship that is shaped by Scripture and the life of the Church.

Dr. Thomson has served in a wide range of musical and ministry contexts, including:

  • Worship pastor in multiple church contexts
  • Extensive experience conducting choirs and orchestras
  • Extensive experience as a pianist and organist
  • Guest artist at Muskoka Bible Centre
  • Performance at Carnegie Hall with students and alumni
  • Collaboration and performance with artists such as Steve Green, Robin Mark, Paul Baloche, Ben Heppner, Brian Doerksen, Don Hustad, and Rory Noland
  • Participation in conferences alongside leaders such as Don Carson, Haddon Robinson, John Witvliet, Leonard Sweet, and others

He has also contributed to the broader community through leadership roles, including service with the Cambridge Community Orchestra and recognition through a nomination for the Bernice Adams Service Award.
